Shipping
We offer free shipping on any purchase over $99. Please note perfumes, body oils or any liquid product can only be shipped ground due to shipping regulations.
We ship in the United States and Internationally (not all items are eligible for int'l shipment). Please allow 3-5 business days* for processing before shipment. You will receive an email notification once your package has shipped. We ship via USPS and UPS, depending on the customer's choice at checkout. UPS SurePost is a low-cost option that delivers by USPS at the customer's address.
During warmer months we may change shipping days to decrease chances of candles melting during transit. Please check our Instagram for the latest shipping updates (@boroughhome).
Once shipped you will receive tracking information emailed to you by the mail carrier. Please allow up to 24 hours for updates as scans may not be immediate. Please reach out to the carrier if you encounter any problems with shipment.
Please ensure your mailing address is current and correct as we have NO control over your item once it is at the mail carrier.
Your package is insured up to $100, if your item arrives damaged or lost please reach out to your carrier to file a claim.
We take great care in ensuring your products are safe in transit by using biodegradable and/or reused packing materials. We are not responsible for any damage or missing purchases once it has been shipped. We do want you to have a great experience with us so please email or DM us if you encounter any issues!

Returns/Exchanges
We cannot process returns or exchanges at this time. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your purchase, please email us at boroughhome@gmail.com. We are a one-woman business and want you to be delighted by your purchase with us! If you receive an item that is damaged or leaking please email us with photos of the outer packaging, the damaged item and the packing material so we can assess next steps.
Candle Care
Our candles are made with 100% soy wax without the use of additives or dyes. Uneven surface texture of wax is natural and completely normal.
- Your candle wick has been trimmed so you can enjoy them immediately, but please trim your wick to 1/4" before each burn as soot and excess wick can affect the burn of your candle.
- Candles should burn cleanly to the edge of the container before extinguishing to prevent tunneling (this may be up to 2 hours). If flame is too high, extinguish and trim wick once cool.
- Do not handle burning candles as glass container may get hot.
- Keep lit candles away from drafts and flammable objects like curtains and clothing. Children and pets should be kept away from reach of candles.
- Candles should not burn longer than 4 hours.
- You wouldn't light a fire in the wind, don't try to light a candle in a drafty area.
- Candle tins get very hot while burning, please place on heatproof surface and do not handle until wax has solidified.
- Do not leave candles unattended. Treat candles like small (but beautiful) fires and be a responsible candle owner. We are not responsible for any misuse or neglect of proper candle care.
- Once you have 1/2" wax left, discontinue use as the flame may become too high and a risk of breaking the glass jar is possible. You can easily remove leftover wax by putting your candle in the freezer. Once wax is hardened remove with butter knife. Wax sticker is easily removed with knife or your fingers. Remove all labels and discard. Glass is recyclable.
Perfume Oils
Perfumes are personal and will smell different on different bodies. We do not accept returns or exchanges on perfume oils and strongly suggest using our Perfume Discovery Set to find the perfect scent for you! Perfume oils work best on moisturized skin in areas that heat up well (neck, elbows, behind the knees) and can be layered and reapplied as much as you wish. We create our perfumes in small batches and minor differences between batches may occur. We are not responsible for damaged or broken perfumes during transit. We use 100% Organic Jojoba Oil as our perfume carrier-please note in colder weather the oil may start to solidify. This does not affect the quality of the product, simply roll in your hands to warm it up.
Curated Perfumes, Bath & Body Care
When available, ingredients will be provided in the product description. Please note that scent notes do not indicate actual ingredients in a formulation. Use caution and spray a patch test if you suspect you may have sensitivities. Please note that all sales are final and not eligible for return, exchange or refund. We do our best to source quality goods from manufacturers that do ethical and sustainable business practices.
Our use and stance on AI
We do not use any AI-generated images for products. We believe that design, photography and art should be protected and made by humans. Our usage of AI is analytical, helping us understand our sales, traffic and conversion. We sometimes use AI to generate product descriptions that are optimized for understanding and SEO (search engine optimization). We still make every Borough Home product by hand in our small Portland studio and believe that there is value in handmade goods in an increasingly mass-manufactured environment and digital world.
