Badlands

Badlands is an olfactory ode to one of Oregon's wildest places: a vast stretch of scrubby desert full of gnarled and lightning-struck juniper trees, unruly sagebrush, ancient volcanic riverbeds, and dust, dust, dust. Smokey, dry, and herbal, this blend is made from petrichor, juniper berries, an infusion of Lapsang Souchong tea, and Artemisia Tridentata (wild/great basin/big sagebrush).

If you're not familiar with wild sagebrush, its fragrance is very different from super camphorous white ("sacred”) sage. This variety is hay-like, funky, and honestly quite dirty, with notes of oiled musty leather. Imagine the scent of sitting in an old sweat-soaked saddle, riding a horse languidly through a charred and barren landscape. After the thin herbal notes of sagebrush and juniper berries have dried down, you'll catch a dark waft of powdery smoke that lingers like the smoldering ashes of old trees victimized by desert lightning strikes.

Gently shake the vial before applying. For best results, dab onto fingertips and apply to the ends of hair, beards, or dark fibers/clothing, rather than skin. Extraits may stain. Store away from heat and direct sunlight to extend the scent’s longevity. Storing it in the box it arrives in is recommended.
